But while many just see the tiny, extravagant outfits of lovers that swarmed the Los Angeles Conference Middle over the past few days, planners of Toons Expo highlight the tale collections of the well-known cartoons and comics can provide an in-depth understanding into Japanese people well-known lifestyle and is more than cosplay -- lovers in "costume play" clothed as well-known figures -- or kid's perform.
"We know that our participants are looking for a further experience and a lot of our participants are mature. It's not all 15- to 21-year-old children," said expo spokesperson Greg Hignight. "Anime lovers have been going powerful now for two years so there are a lot of people out who are lovers and lovers of anime but are also enthusiastic about the social origins and importance it has had on the Japanese people lifestyle and the art world."
That is why the four-day expo, which began on Freedom Day, included what Hignight described as a "full-blown educational symposium." The AX 2013 Toons and Manga Research Symposium presented sound system from institutions from all over the nation and overseas from as far as European countries and Asia. In its first beginning, Hignight said it was important for Toons Expo to talk about women in anime and their increasing part in the lifestyle.
